Some of the services I use have referral schemes that offer credit or in the case of Dropbox, extra space – not just to me but to whoever clicks on them and signs up for their service.

Dropbox

You get and I get 250MB free when you use this link.  Once you’ve signed up, you can also refer people and get some free space, currently up to 8GB.

Dreamhosts

These currently offer me money (10%) but nothing but good value hosting on reliable Debian servers to anyone who uses the link, but as with Dropbox, once onboard you can also refer people onto them for 10% and you have the option to get credit for whoever they refer (5%).
