O2 & Mobile Browsing

O2 customers had a bit of a fright this morning when news of a little flaw in the way the carrier was allowing websites to identify you over 3G started spreading across the internet. When you use the internet with any device, whether it is a phone, tablet, PC, Mac or even a PS3 the [...]

Nokia is about to launch its first new Windows Phone 7 devices, the Lumia 800 range this coming November. BT Infinity Heat Troubles

As I’ve mentioned before, my BT Infinity is experiencing significant issues with heat. Truth be told, heat is an exaggeration as it more like an inclement weather problem. BT Infinity

After a number of less than stellar experiences with BT I was reluctant to go back with them, but unfortunately they have the monopoly on the phone network and are currently one of the few non-Virgin providers offering a fibre optic connection. Google Chromebooks

There’s a good rundown of the newly announced Chromebooks on PC Pro here.

I’ve been struggling to see the point of these, but seeing how successful the iPad has been as a companion to a fully-fledged desktop or laptop there’s no reason why they can’t make this work. As long as you throw away all notion of performing some of the more sophisticated computing tasks, such as syncing your iPod, processing RAW image files, DTP etc and think of it more like a tablet with a physical keyboard you should be ok.

Huawei E585 with Three

I’ve always been quite sceptical about mobile broadband. The biggest problem is the crushing expense of going over your data allowance. Users finding a four-figure phone bill landing on their doormat is not an uncommon occurrence, especially when abroad. Back in 2009 a man received a £22,000 bill for downloading a few films while overseas.
